Cycles

In the near future, humanity's last hope lies in a mission to a distant planet. Hundreds of mass-produced pods are launched in a statistical scattershot, each carrying a minimal crew of four. Their bodies are kept perpetually young to physically endure; their memories continually erased to mentally survive.

As the lead engineer faces daunting technical challenges, they tumble through psychological and philosophical rabbit holes. Will they make it?

Pronouns are substituted literally. Swapping he/him for she/her (or any other pair) reads correctly, but they/them does not yet fit the surrounding verbs — you would see “they was” in places.
